October 6th marked the Middlebury Equestrian Team’s 25th annual home show. The team started the season strong both in the ring and out. After missing the fall ’17 season while abroad in Madrid, Pharibe Pope ’19 clinched third place in Novice Fences to point up to Intermediate and qualify for IHSA Zone I Region II Regionals. She placed first in her flat class as well, moving her closer to yet another Regionals qualification. Daryl Morrison ’18.5 grabbed third in her Novice Fence class as well as a first in the Novice Flat, which moves her closer to a Regionals spot. Laurel Margerum ’19 had a solid performance in the same Novice Fence class, earning second place. Anja Stadelmann and Francesca Napoli brought in two additional wins for Middlebury in Novice Flat and Walk-Trot, respectively. Tom Sacco made his show debut in Walk-Trot, as well, and is ready for the season ahead. The team would like to thank coaches, parents, warmup riders, and partnering barns for helping kickoff the season with a successful home show. The team is looking forward to traveling to University of Vermont and Dartmouth for the weekend of October 12th.

The team competed at Colby Sawyer on October 22nd and again at Dartmouth on the 23rd. It was a long weekend but one full of great effort and blue ribbons! Middlebury’s Fall Break coincided with the Bowdoin show this year, allowing the time for a handful of riders to make the 4.5 hour drive to compete. Following a jam-packed day running the home show, several Middlebury riders made the trek to UVM to compete in the second show of the season. October 8th marked the start of the 2016 competitive season for IHSA Zone I Region II teams. Middlebury had the privilege of hosting the season opener, and on Family Weekend no less! |
